My Cupcake Creation!

 13 August 2011

Earlier this afternoon I had a craving, a craving for cupcakes. I wanted a really good cupcake, not a pre-made one from the grocery store (under normal circumstances, store cupcakes are fine, but this craving made me picky!) So the only way to get a good cupcake, not store bought, is to make it myself. This posed a problem because, well, I don't do so well in the kitchen.

But I had made up my mind. So I scoured the internet for the perfect recipe. After reading through a few made-from-scratch recipes I decided that attempting to tackle the entire cupcake from scratch was probably not the way to go, being as inexperienced as I am (the instructions were a bit intimidating). So I narrowed my search down to frosting recipes and decided that that was a challenge more suited to me. After several searches I finally found it. Exactly what my taste buds were asking for. A chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting!

So I packed Autumn up and with my list of ingredients in hand, we headed to the store. About a half hour later we arrived back home and I got to work.

Now for all of you experienced cooks/bakers this probably seems like child's play, but for me it is anything but. I don't know why, but I am just not talented when it comes to cooking. It usually takes me one or two tries to get something right, and by right I mean edible. Today was a new day.

Apparently, I wanted a cupcake more then I even knew because I had that frosting whipped to perfection on the first try, and not one cupcake came out burned. So this is what baking feels like.

This evening after dinner with my husband's parents and sister, we all enjoyed a cupcake made by yours truely! I couldn't have been happier!
