The Final Countdown

 31 December 2014

It's New Years Eve. I am sitting in my favorite corner of the couch. Steve is across from me on the love seat and there is a plate of snacks on a table between us. The house is quiet, both kids are fast asleep, despite Autumn's best efforts to stay awake long enough to ring in the New Year - and get a sip of sparkling grape juice.

I'll save the juice for tomorrow.

This is my 15th New Year's Eve spent with Steve. Last year we had a big blow out with friends, this year is obviously much more low key. I enjoy both varieties of celebration, although not having to worry about the "transfer" from sleeping child in car seat to sleeping child in bed at 1 am is nice.

I looked up at the clock and realized there are about 2 hours left in 2014. Such a strange feeling, to realize that out of an entire year there is only two hours left. All of the laughter, all of the stress, all of the worry - all of the life lived in this past year and there are only two hours to go.

It's been a good year.

Steve and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Autumn started VPK and attending school everyday. We added two new babies to our circle of friends {shout out to Olivia and Cohen!} Nate got his first haircut and took his first trip to the beach. I got a tattoo. Steve and I took a trip to the Dominican Republic. Autumn danced in her first ballet recital. Each of my babies turned another year older.

There has been so much love and so much life lived in the last 365 days. We have celebrated successes, we have stressed over struggles, we have laughed, we have argued, we have listened to "Let It Go" 3,426,897 times.

Thank you, 2014, for being good to my family. I cannot wait to see what 2015 has in store.
