Twinkle Toes

 24 September 2014

Last Thursday was Autumn's very first dance class. For the last year or so we have been enrolling her in gymnastics classes but over the summer noticed that she was beginning to lose interest. I asked her if there was something else that she would like to do instead and she enthusiastically told me dance. Goodbye balance beam, hello tutu.

As we were heading out the door, on the way to class, Autumn asked me if I could turn her ponytail into "dancer's hair". Assuming that she meant she wanted it pulled up into a bun, I obliged. Then I swooned over my little girl and her "dancer's hair".

Autumn's class is called the "Twinkle Toes" and consists of  6-7 four year olds. It is a "Mommy and Me" class, so this Mama is getting in on the action too.  I actually love that her class is set up this way. It allows Autumn and I to have 30 minutes of one-on-one time together, doing something that she loves. No, I do not have to wear a tutu. Yes, I also have a recital in November.

I wasn't worried about Autumn enjoying her dance class, mostly because she begged to take it and has been talking about it non-stop since we signed her up. What I didn't see coming was her falling in love with it the way she has! That may have something to do with the crowns and princess wands they got to twirl with at the close of class last week.

My little girl's twirl has now turned into a sashay (seriously, she will inform you that she is "sashaying") and I love it.
