Nate ~ One Month

 07 February 2013

Nate,
First, let me begin by apologizing that this update is three weeks late (although, I'm a little impressed it's ONLY three weeks!). I am still getting used to this whole "Mother of 2" thing, and unfortunately updating the blog has taken a back seat to keeping everyone clean and fed!

Your first month home was a whirlwind, to say the least! Your actual due date was January 5, 2013, however you decided you wanted to join us a little early and you were born on December 19, 2012 at 37 weeks, 4 days. My little Christmas present!

While I was not entirely prepared for you to be here before Christmas, I was thrilled that we got to spend my favorite holiday as a family of four!

Milestones: You have been consistently sleeping four hours straight at night since we arrived home from the hospital. We have slowly been inching our way towards the five hour mark, and last night we finally got there! It is amazing what that one extra hour will do!

Loves: Your pacifier. On our second night in the hospital you started uncontrollably crying in the middle of the night. I tried feeding you, changed you, held you for a bit, but nothing seemed to help! Then, as a last resort, I sent your Daddy to the nurse's station for a pacifier. Once we popped that in your mouth you were as content as could be and have been in love with your pacifier ever since. You do have a favorite and I am interested to see if that changes as you grow.

Hates: There doesn't seem to be much that you hate or dislike right now. You are a very laid back baby, so as long as you are fed, snuggled and changed, you are as happy as can be! You do get a little bent out of shape right after a bath, but I think that's just because you are cold. Once I get you bundled back up you are good to go!

Weight and Height: At birth you weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces and were 18.5 inches long. On the day that we were discharged from the hospital you weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces. The day of your first doctor's appointment, at one week old, you weighed in at 6 pounds, 4 ounces and at a follow up appointment one week from that (at 2 weeks old) you weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces!
