Picasso in Training

 27 July 2012

I have had an idea of how I wanted the new baby's nursery to be painted for a while now. Three solid walls and one wall with wide vertical strips, alternating in two different colors. All I needed to know was what color scheme I would be working with.

After we found out what we are having, I was immediately able to narrow down the colors, and ended up deciding on a light powder blue and white. We had scheduled to have the carpet replaced in all of the bedrooms in a few weeks, and wanted to have all of the painting done beforehand, so we Steve got to work.

About half way through the painting process, Autumn realized that there was something going on that she was not aware of. So, she stuck her little head through the doorway, saw the paint, and Steve found himself with an assistant.

Since the carpeting was going to be replaced anyway, we weren't worried about letting Autumn go to town on the walls. Steve found a little paintbrush, directed Autumn to a section of un-painted wall and let her go!

Autumn painted until her little heart's content. She is so proud of her section of the wall and the fact that she helped her Dada with "brother's room". When friends and relatives have come over to see the painted nursery, Autumn loves to run to the wall and point to the parts where she helped! I love how excited Autumn is about her baby brother's room and plan on trying to involve her in many more activities we do to prepare for the new baby.

Good for you for letting her help, she will appreciate that thought when she's older to know you involved her in her brother's arrival xoxo
