The Conquarium

 06 March 2013

Also known as the aquarium, although I think I prefer the adorable way my three year old says it. Last weekend we took a trip up north to visit the Georgia Aquarium. I had been dying to go ever since I took Autumn to Tampa's aquarium and saw how much she enjoyed it.

The Georgia Aquarium was the world's largest aquarium when it opened in 2005. It is the home to 500 different species that live in 8.5 million gallons of salt and fresh water. Needless to say, it did not disappoint! From the otters, to the penguins. The "Nemo" clown fish to the massive whale sharks, Autumn was amazed and amused by each new animal we saw.

As if the endless tanks filled with thousands of sea creatures isn't enough, the aquarium is also the home to an indoor dolphin show! I watched most of the show through the corner of my eye, as I was fixated on the look of wonder on Autumn's face. Even in the dark theater, I could see her excitement each time one of those beautiful dolphins soared through the air, flipping and splashing into the water below. She would yell, "Yay dolphins!" while clapping her little hands in amusement.

This weekend, like many others in the past, reminded me how much I love to see things through the eyes of my daughter. Forgetting the responsibilities that await me at home, the piles of laundry, stack of bills and house that never seems to be clean enough. For a few hours I was able to forget and just be.
